Let’s FACE it—acne is a touchy subject. I’ve never been shy of voicing for help though. I’ve done extensive research, tried almost every product on the market, and have gotten facials. I’m happy to say that I can finally walk around with no foundation on and be comfortable. So what worked? I know they say don’t do face masks every single day, but I DID! The thing is that I vary them up. For hydration I used the Rose Face mask by Fresh. For oxygenation and radiance, I used the Oxygenating Facial by Dr. Brandt. For acne, I used the sulfur mask by DDF. For exfoliation, I used ExfoliKate. For radiance, congestion, and anti-aging, I used the Glycolactic Peel by REN. AND i just started experimenting with the 3-step micro-peel by Ole Henrikson and the Fango mud mask by Borghese. Whew! Yes it might sound crazy but those all worked together very nicely! I also used the Perricone Skin Clear supplements for anti-inflammation and to treat the root of the problem internally. My Clarisonic usage was shorted to once a day instead of twice. I felt like that doing it AM and PM was too much. At night, I sleep with a Dermalogica salicylic night gel.
Things I regret:
Using Apricot Scrub in my pre-teen years! That stuff TEARS UP YOUR SKIN! Although you feel like it’s taking off all the dead skin, it’s making small cuts everywhere that can be seen with a microscope. The more you use it, the more it will be evident.
Not taking my make-up off at night. Just cus it’s oil-free doesn’t mean it is ok to sleep in!
Not changing my pillow case often. Think of all that sweat and grime from your face, hair, and clothes! Bacteria breeding ground.
Now after almost ten years of horrible acne, i’m happy to say that i’ve found my happy place!
